As the Exploration Geologist, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing drilling programs with multiple rigs in operation, both above and under ground. The role includes core logging, interpretation of geological data, fieldwork (mapping and sampling), as well as close collaboration with engineers and miners to optimize exploration strategies. As an Exploration Geologist, you play a key role in identifying mineral resources, supporting mine planning, and ensuring the effective execution of exploration initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Drilling Programs & Drilling Supervision:

  • Design and implement surface and underground drill programs to expand resources and improve geological understanding.
  • Coordinate drill rig activities, ensuring programs are completed efficiently and safely.
  • Monitor drilling progress and adjust programs as necessary based on real-time results.

Core Logging, Fieldwork & Geological Interpretation:

  • Conduct detailed geological logging of drill core, including lithology, structure, alteration, and mineralization.
  • Perform geological mapping and sampling in both underground and surface environments to support exploration and resource development.
  • Collect and manage geochemical and geotechnical data to support exploration and mine planning.
  • Interpret drill results to refine geological models and identify new exploration targets.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of drilling, mapping, and geological data.

The role requires good communication skills, as you are expected to provide regular updates and technical reports with results and recommendations to management. Strong cooperation ability is essential, as you will work closely with mining engineers, geotechnical engineers, and production geologists to integrate exploration results into mine planning.

You are also expected to ensuring that all exploration and field activities comply with mine safety regulations and company policies. This will involve managing contractors and drilling teams to ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and operational regulations.
